ABOUT US

The Preservation Alliance of Evansville (PAE) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and protecting Evansville’s irreplaceable heritage resources. Through its activities and advocacy, PAE seeks to connect and rally interested people and partner organizations from throughout the City in order to promote investment in and appreciation of the City’s rich heritage, not only as reminders of the past but also as viable components of the future.

PROMOTE.

The Most Endangered Historic Places program is intended to raise awareness of important historic places that face imminent danger and spur support and discussions about appropriate treatments and meaningful futures for these places. These places contribute to the rich heritage and community identity of Evansville but are threatened with deterioration, redevelopment, and demolition. Some, having outlasted their original use, await reinvest that will return them to life as both reminders of our history and viable components of our future, while others are facing potential demolition, which would undeniably tear a hole in the fabric of Evansville’s identity.

APPRECIATE.

For nearly 35 years, the Preservation Alliance of Evansville has recognized those that have taken initiative to preserve and celebrate the region’s irreplaceable history and historic resources. Awarded each May, during Historic Preservation Month, the Historic Preservation Awards showcase the efforts of individuals, organizations, businesses, and others whose efforts embody outstanding work in historic preservation.

From self-proclaimed preservationists to business owners to lovers of history and architecture, the Preservation Alliance takes pride in recognizing those who embrace Evansville’s history and its places. The preservation, revitalization, and celebration of our historic neighborhoods, commercial assets, and underutilized buildings are critical to the retention of Evansville’s history, character, identity, and sense of place, and we welcome nominations for those individuals and projects that have supported such.

EDUCATE.

We want to educate the community with the hosting of preservation lectures through the Randall T. Shepherd foundation, our annual Preservation Awards, walking tours and more!

Be sure to check out our event page for more information on upcoming events!
